Display Engine

Overview: The Display Engine (DE ASIC) delivers high-performance, high-resolution digital and analog display. The Display Engine interfaces to the MRE ASIC and performs all the backend functions required for the display of graphics, image, or video on the monitor (or optional Flat Panel). A two dimensional display mechanism provides pixel by pixel control of the display mode. The DE ASIC can manage two simultaneous display streams from main memory for overlay and normal bitplanes. The overlay stream is 8-bit color index. The normal stream can be 8, 16, or 32 bits deep and can be split to provide 16 and 32 bit double buffering. The bandwidth of the part is capable of driving a 32 bit display at 1280x1024 at 75Hz refresh.
